Cunard’s first four funneller was launched in 1906, and won the Blue Riband back from the Germans with her superior speed. She was lost with heavy loss of life after being torpedoed by U-20 in 1915, contributing to the United States entering the war.
She is seen here passing the Old Head of Kinsale having just departed from Queenstown, and is where she was torpedoed and still lies today 100m deep in the Irish Sea.
